Random artwork- Swampthing

So this was me doing a quick Swampthing drawing but then I liked it so much I decided to try and ruin it with colour.

See now I know that there are clear problems with certain areas with this drawing but I am still practising my colour work so don't too hardly... please.

Hobgoblin

So this is a drawing that originally started as a  image of an orc from lord of the rings but as i started just attacking the page with my black fine liner I just could help but turn him into the Hobgoblin and putting a pumpkin bomb in his hands!

Venom

This is a drawing I did of Venom, I took inspiration from the latest version of Flash Thompson being in the symbiotic suit and the civil war, thunderbolt Venom.

I really wanted to focus on his head with it looking more demonic and skull like.

Deadpool

So this is a drawing I did of Deadpool which took about 5 minutes, this is because I wanted to focus more on improving my colouring and lighting on the character.

So this is the coloured version of the drawing. the lighting I have focused on is it hitting the top of his head and face, with light showing on his arms and legs where the beams of light would hit him.

Swampthing trial page - unfinished

This is the first draft of the sketch of a Swampthing page I was decided to draw one of the evenings in September. It has Swampthing's eyes looking out, with Arcane's mouth underneath with the a different shot of Swampthing with his back facing the reader holding the body of what will be Abigail.

This is the the second stage of the drawing, Arcane is walking towards Swampthing. I am going to draw the background in next with dying trees next to Arcane and flowers growing around the body of Swampthing.

I will get back to this drawing at a later date.

Computer Edits - Batman

This is the stages on how I turned my sketchbook drawing of Batman into a digitally edited picture on my computer.

Sketchbook Drawing.

After the Drawing was transferred to my laptop I went over the outline of the drawing on my computer program.

I then added the basic colour scheme for the costume. I went for a mix between new 52 and a more armoured look which appears in the Arkham games.

I then did some basic shading on to the costume of the character to define where the light source was as well as the details of the suit.

I then added more shading and detail to the belt as well as the cape and cowl.
( Please note that this is only the third piece of editing work I've done.)

I then decided the outfit needed to be defined a bit more so I went over my previous shading with a darker tone, using a air brush tool on the software I was using. I also added the bat symbol from the future batman vs superman film which I also shaded.

I then decided to do a rough background of a city scape behind him at night, with some smoke or fog rising from the city.

Computer Edits - Green Lantern

This is the first and completely unedited drawing of my Green Lantern image.

Now this is the new edited image of green lantern where I put a lot of detail onto the ring to show the energy flowing through the ring.

Computer Edits - Cows Do Cosplay - Silver Surfer .1

This is the first of my computer edited photos. I finally found a programme that was free on the app store to do some basic edits. As this is my first real attempt at editing one of my drawings on my computer, I still have a couple of issues that I need to improve on but little by little I am gonna get there!

Cows Do Cosplay .2

Cows Do Cosplay: The Silver Surfer!

So here is another one of my Cows Do Cosplay, I decided to draw Silver Surfer Cow as I had my brand new sketch book and thought why not carry on this CDC idea on into the new year.
I started this new piece by looking at a number of Surfer images online, to find a positioning and scale which I thought would be interesting to try and replicate. I found a piece which I really liked and began by drawing out the figure of the Surfer and once I had the body on the paper as a rough sketch I then changed the head, hands and feet into that of a cow as well as adding the udders onto the abdomen instead of the shiny six pack the usual Surfer would have, however as we all know cows don't have six packs.

I then added some more detail on to the background, I wanted to add a bit of colour to the darkness of space, so I began with a layer of purple and then black over the purple starting gently and getting more heavy the further I went from the edge of the planets atmosphere. I then added the colour to the planet, I started with a rough filler of light green with more emphasis on the edge of the planet to try and show the distance of the Surfer from the planet.

Once the colour had been completely added I decided to do some simple edits on the iPhoto app on my macbook. I changed the contrast levels and brightness to show more detail of the Cow Surfer. Once I have more professional programmes on my macbook, I will add more detail to this piece and try to make the lines of the background more crisp and detailed.

2013 R.I.P - 2014 Come on down!!!!

Well as 2013 is now over and done with I thought I would do a little post with a couple of drawings I was proud to do in 2013 as a little recap for new visitors as well as reminding me of how much I have improved over the year and to help me get motivated to continue my efforts in 2014.

Enjoy!

Art 32. Green Lantern.

Stage one of Green Lantern followed by stage two.

I started my green lantern image by sketching out the character designing my own interpretation of his uniform out before continuing with my next step.

After drawing the character, I decided to draw a helicopter which the character has made using his power ring behind him. I then added a few minor details to the helicopter.

I then decided to use a green fine liner to outline the character as well as the helicopter behind him to define the main image.

I then decided to add colour to the drawing, firstly I added light and dark green colour to the helicopter and uniform of the Green lantern with colour pencils, I then used a dark green sharpie to draw the glow around the character as well as the green energy coming from his power ring. I then used my fine liners to add the detail missed on the suit to help define the characters figure as well as the texture on his suit.

This is the second stage of my green lantern image. I have uploaded my photo of my drawing onto the computer and edited the size of the image down to focus on the main image. I then raised the contrast of the image as well as the sharpness to bring the colour of the drawing out to give it more depth.

Art 31. Venom

Venom - stage 1 and 2

as you can see from the image above, I began this piece by doing a simple sketch of the character venom. I added all of my shading in the areas in which there was less detail to be shown.

Once finished with my sketch, I uploaded the image onto my computer and decided to crop the image down and changed the lighting of the image as well raising the contrast and sharpness to bring out the details of the character's eyes and teeth.

Once I have the correct computer programme I will be able to add more detail and different colour scheme choices.

Art 22. The Boxer.

This is a drawing I did of a possible future character.

I decided to draw a boxer after watch some of the weekends boxing that my brother had recorded. I decided to go with a classic position to the character with him having his guard up.

I then added a face and Mohawk to the character.

I added darker lines upon the basic outline I had previously drawn.

I then added all the texture and detail to the characters muscles and clothing.

I then decided to add the ring around him to make the figure look less like he was floating on the page.

In this stage I simply added the shading and texture to the background of the ring.

After adding the tattoo to the boxer's arm, I decided to leave this drawing as it is because i would want to finish this image by layering this about a pre produced background I would draw.

Art 19. Penance.

This is a piece based on the Marvel Character Penance

I firstly started this drawing by doing a quick sketch of the characters armour.

I then started adding more detail to the shading of the armour and the breathing vents.

I then continued to adding more detail to the helmet and the spikes around the armour.

I then decided for a change I would add some more colour to the suit, as this is Penance, the only colours I could add would be the red outline on the jaw line of the helmet and the blood that would be draining from the character wearing the suit.

To finish the character off, I decided to add the blue outline of his powers being expelled from his body.
