This is a piece that was inspired by Zombie fiction.
I was inspired to draw this image as I have been reading World War Z lately as well as seeing the film, which is roughly based on the book. My brother also mentioned the idea of drawing Zombies after watching 28 Days Later. So after these reasons, I thought I'd give it a go.
I started the piece off by drawing this figure of a Zombie priest holding a severed foot in his hand. I then thought I would try and draw another zombie in the background hanging from something, So I placed the second figure roughly hanging from a lamp post.
Once happy with the second figures position in the drawing, I decided to draw a third figure in the very close foreground. This character was slightly based on the art work of Eric Powell and his character of the Priest in the Goon series.
I then wanted to add a female character within the drawing, I took inspiration from old 1960's photographs of models and decided that one woman would be the base for this figures outfit and hair style.
After drawing all of the characters in the foreground I decided to create more of a scene within the background, I did this because I need to practice my skills in that area as well as I felt the piece seemed really empty and a background would make it feel more attractive to look at.
As you can see at this stage I decided to do do all the shading of the background and to try and give some more perspective of distance of the characters in the foreground to that of the objects in the back.
This is the final version of the drawing. I hope you all like it.
